Slide Slam on Cam
I’ve presented artwork recently for PAC'’s Slide Slam on Cam; Share Your Vision & Song Slam on Cam; Beyond the Music. It’s a virtual series of fast-paced talks with visual artists & musicians shared across Long Island. Click here to watch!
Origin can set our course, and as we define ourselves by our life experiences, our place of origin defines us as well. And I wonder how much of our origin story can shift over time.
The place we call home always changes, whether we decide to stay in one place—the place that we came from—or make a new place our home. And we contribute to our home with our physical selves, like walking up and down a path in a certain direction, our tending and caring for gardens and buildings. We also contribute our energetic selves to our home by directing vibration within our surroundings and towards each other. There is reciprocity in every action having a reaction. Ultimately we are responsible for ourselves and our contribution to our place and home, and perhaps it all shifts our origin story.
I’ve been studying the places I’ve called home and making art out of what has surfaced. The beauty is in the diversity and details of our surroundings. An ecosystem is created by the company we keep, the ground that we walk upon and tend to, and nature’s presence. We can celebrate it, mold it and change it, and as we do, we must cultivate a better world, because the power is certainly not outside of ourselves.
There are so many talented artists who will be talking about their work. Check out the whole series here: https://patchoguearts.org/slide-slam-song-slam-2021/.
