mandevillas
I’ve been drawing these flowering mandevilla vines, and they capture my attention with showy blooms and endless roping. I consider the trellis they grow upon, and how they depend on that structure within to pop their florals to the sun.

Mermaids
This series is about the mermaids as I see them. They are bold and beautiful, mysterious and feminine—much like the women I am grateful to have in my life.
Mythology
This series explores women and myth. I started painting women when the works of Lisa Yuskavage and John Currin were all over Chelsea and I had just read, “The Red Tent” by Anita Diamant. I was inspired to paint women, and I developed a process of transforming ideas and perceptions into finished works of meaning and honor to the feminine being.
